Lego models photographed on location look the business. This stunning Mercedes-Benz Actros with Nooteboom trailer and its Volkswagen Transporter escort vehicle have appeared here previously as part of a builder collaboration.
Flickr’s JaapTechnic has since completed his elements of that original set-up by adding fully working lights and high-quality decals to his models. Today’s incredible Lego creation comes from newcomer Chrismo72, who has built one of the most astounding Technic models of the year.
Featuring five Power Functions motors controlling the pitch, roll and rotation of the rotors, two sets of LED lights, two IR controllers and two IR receivers, Chrismo’s Air Ambulance helicopter is amongst the most advanced Lego aircraft ever built.
As well as some brilliant Technic engineering Chrismo’s helicopter also includes some neat brickwork, such as the clever tail-rotor housing shown above.

The most pointless of the Tracy brothers, orbiting the Earth in Thunderbird 5, is about to get some more cushiony softness courtesy of his long suffering sibling, and Thunderbird 3 pilot, Alan.
This humongous Lego recreation of the Tracy family’s spaceship was discovered on Flickr. It’s the work of Gary Davis who is clearly rather stunningly talented with a Lego brick. You can see more of his incredible model at his photostream – click the link above to launch.
LEGO have teamed up with McLaren Automotive, one of their Speed Champions partners, to launch an exciting new design competition!
McLaren would like you to design their next supercar in brick form. The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16 via the LEGO ReBrick platform, and there are some awesome prizes to be won. These include a range of LEGO Speed Champions sets and, most excitingly of all, flights and VIP entry with McLaren to the amazing Goodwood Festival of Speed in England this summer.
There’s just one week to go, as entries close on June 1st, so get building!
We love Japan. It’s home to the newest technology, some of the world’s greatest cars, Takeshi’s Castle, and even a giant city-destroying lizard.
But for every amazing thing to come from Japan’s industrious population something completely perplexing will emerge too. Pokemon, used underwear vending machines (yes, really), and the Daihatsu Mira Gino all probably fit into this category. It’s the Gino we’re featuring here today, looking like a sort of tragic copy of an original Mini, and… er, resplendent in Japanese Police livery.
We Googled the Mira Gino and luckily for the Japanese cops we didn’t find one image of it in crime-fighting form, so Seiji N‘s Lego recreation is hopefully only a work of fiction. But it does look kinda cute…

The Elves love the Fast and Furious movie franchise. There’s very little plot but lots of explosions, and that’s pretty much all they need from television. Flickr’s Mad Physicist, a regular here, has built one of the most famous cars from the movies, a highly modified* lime-green Mitsubishi Eclipse. If our memory serves us correctly these mods included a 17 speed gearbox, a Nitrous Oxide System that defied basic chemistry, and magic.
It’s been a while since we posted a historic warplane here at The Lego Car Blog, so in rectification today we’ve got three! First up (above) is JBIronWorks’ beautiful blue Grumman F4F Wildcat and accompanying diorama. There’s more to see on Flickr by clicking here.
The second of today’s trio of Word War 2 fighters comes from Daniel Siskind, who has constructed a brilliant mini-figure scale replica of the legendary Supermarine Spitfire. Daniel’s version pictured here is a Mark V in desert camouflage and there’s lots more too see at his photostream – click the link above to make the trip.
The final creation in today’s threesome, representing the Axis Powers – and the nemesis of the Spitfire above, is the formidable Messerschmitt BF-109. This stunning recreation of the famous fighter has been built by Flickr’s Lennart C, and you can see more of his model by clicking here.
This has got to be one of the weirdest aircraft that we’ve featured, and almost unbelievably it’s an accurate miniature replica of a real-world helicopter – the 1960’s Soviet-made Kamov Ka-26.
Like much of what was produced behind the iron curtain in the early post-war years the Kamov Ka-26 was a bit rubbish. It required its two unreliable radial engines to be working constantly at almost full power to stay in the air, meaning it needed ridiculously frequent maintenance. Despite the design faults over eight-hundred Kamov Ka-26s were built, with many of them employed as crop spraying aircraft in Eastern Europe like the Hungarian version we have here.

It’s an orangey sort of day here at TLCB Towers, as we now have two Elves contentedly munching on orange Smarties (they’re the best kind). Today’s second orange creation was discovered on Flickr, and it’s an entry into the Build a Future McLaren competition currently running at the LEGO ReBrick site that featured here earlier in the week.

It hasn’t taken long for some of the incredible vehicles from brilliant 2015 film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ to start appearing in Lego form. The first to appear here come from one of our favourite Town-scale builders; Flickr’s _Tyler. There’s lots more to see at his Mad Max photo album, including these epic recreations of vehicles from the latest movie, as well as earlier creations from the first Mad Max movies of the 1980s. It’s a sci-fi sort of day here at TLCB. This Space Marine Dreadnought with interchangeable weapons was discovered by an excited Elf on Flickr. Jerac is the builder and you can see more here.
Lots of spacey creations today, but fear not – the cars will return tomorrow. The third and final sci-fi build of the day comes from Clayton Marchetti, who has uploaded this collaborative build to MOCpages. It’s called a Goliath Space Freighter and you can see more at the link above.

LEGO ReBrick‘s McLaren Competition is gathering pace, and we have a superb entry to share with you today. His McLaren Concept features some classic McLaren design cues blended cunningly into a neat modern design.

How did you spend your Bank Holiday Monday?
Here at The Lego Car Blog Towers, some of the Elves returned from the Flickr account of František Hajdekr, hoping to collect an orange Smartie (they’re the best sort). This MOC does feature a working, Technic, single-cylinder engine but it’s not a vehicle of any kind and so we were unable to blog it. No Smarties we awarded.
The enraged Elves then ran amok, demonstrating the Brush Cutter’s working features on their terrified colleagues. Eventually the miscreants were blasted into the Elf cage by Mr. Airhorn and disarmed. Fortunately, we discovered that you can glue Elves back together with Pritt Stick and so the editorial team spent our Bank Holiday gluing our workforce back together. Now that they’re all back in one piece*, the Elves are once more ready to scour the internet for the best vehicular Lego creations. That is until they’re eaten by a small dog or smushed by a Power Functions dumper truck…
*We had 3 right arms leftover and have put them in the filing cabinet as spares.
Graphic designer, Pico van Grootveld is the design and editing brains behind a sci-fi collaboration called “Mining Frenzy“. We featured one the builds, Clayton Marchetti’s “Goliath” on our rather spacey Sunday. Pico’s contribution to the collaboration was a ship from his Tequilatron faction but he also built some other vehicles, which didn’t find space on the poster.
At the top of this post is his Magnaloader and below is the ‘Roidjumper Mech. Pour yourself a drink and then sit back and click this link to enjoy Pico’s work.
We’re basically larger, hairier children here at TLCB Towers, and as such we usually post vehicles with a million horsepower, or guns, or racing stripes. And if possible with all three. Today though we’re posting something surprisingly small*, and possibly even a little elegant – the infamous classic Vespa scooter.
Flickr’s Norton74 has appeared here several times before, more recently with his beautiful Volkswagen garage. He’s now re-purposed this previous build to replicate his own Officina Super Sprint Vespa Workshop that he owns in real-life, and it’s possibly even more lovely than before. One of his Volkswagen Transporters even makes a re-appearance too.
